Orbis Agro Completes 2025 Spring Sowing Campaign in Northern Kazakhstan
Orbis Agro, a leading Kazakhstani agricultural company, has successfully completed its 2025 spring sowing campaign. Fieldwork took place across the company's land holdings in the Gabyt Musrepov district of North Kazakhstan, covering approximately 100,000 hectares.
This year, Orbis Agro planted a wide range of crops including soft and durum wheat, lentils, sunflower, flax, rapeseed, peas, oats, and forage grasses. The harvest will supply both domestic markets and international exports.
“Our 2025 sowing campaign has been successfully completed,” said Nobuyuki Arakawa, CEO of Orbis Agro. “Based on market demand, we reduced our grain sowing area compared to last year while increasing acreage for oilseeds and legumes. We believe we’ve achieved a balanced crop structure. Weather conditions in June and July will be decisive for yields. Soil moisture was higher than usual during early spring, which gives us hope that crops will withstand the hot and dry summer conditions forecasted this year.”
Orbis Agro is the agricultural arm of Orbis Kazakhstan. The company cultivates grains, oilseeds, and legumes, operates greenhouse vegetable farms, and handles both crop storage and export. Its operations span the northern, western, and southern regions of Kazakhstan.
The company owns three grain elevators, including one of the country’s largest. In Western Kazakhstan, Orbis Agro also runs a 12-hectare greenhouse complex producing tomatoes and cucumbers year-round.
In 2024, Orbis Agro exported over 200,000 tonnes of agricultural products. Its main export destinations included Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, China, Iran, Poland, Japan, Tajikistan, and EU countries.
“Orbis Agro is still a young company, but we are growing fast,” Arakawa added. “We are focused on expanding into new export markets while maintaining stable supply to our traditional partners. I’m confident that our efforts will further strengthen Kazakhstan’s role as a global grain exporter.”
In addition to crop production, Orbis Agro is set to launch a new dairy facility in North Kazakhstan this year. The farm will house 1,200 European-breed dairy cows and is expected to produce approximately 11 million liters of raw milk annually.
