A Large-Scale Dairy Farm for 1,500 Cows Completed in Kazakhstan
Orbis Agro, part of the Orbis Kazakhstan group, has completed the construction of one of the region’s largest dairy farms, designed to accommodate 1,500 head of cattle, in the district named after G. Musrepov, North Kazakhstan Region. On the occasion of the project’s completion, the facility was visited by North Kazakhstan Region Akim (Governor) Gauyez Nurmukhambetov, who emphasized the farm’s significance for the agro-industrial sector not only of the region but of the entire country.
The general contractor for the project was Orbis Construction, also a member of the Orbis Kazakhstan group. At the peak of construction, the site employed over 150 specialists and operated more than 40 units of machinery.
According to Nobuyuki Arakawa, CEO of Orbis Agro, the new farm is equipped with Westfalia milking and milk storage systems worth over 700 million tenge. The facility is currently undergoing final validation and preparing for commissioning. The first batch of pedigree Holstein cows is expected to arrive from abroad by the end of this year. Milking will be carried out using a rotary (carousel) system, significantly improving operational efficiency. The raw milk will be supplied to partner dairy processing plants.
The project was implemented on the basis of Budennoye-SK LLP, part of Orbis Agro, with the support of the Soltustik Social and Entrepreneurial Corporation (SEC). Total investment in the project exceeded 8.7 billion tenge.
“Once operating at full capacity, the farm will produce more than 11 million liters of raw milk annually,” said Mustafa Guliev, co-founder of Budennoye-SK LLP. “With this production volume, it will become one of the largest farms in the region, creating over 70 permanent jobs.”
Feed for the farm’s livestock will be fully supplied by Orbis Agro’s own production facilities, including maize and other forage crops, as well as a newly launched feed mill.
“Our goal was not merely to build another dairy farm, but to introduce advanced livestock farming technologies. The rotary milking system, fully integrated feed base, and modern infrastructure allow us to guarantee product quality and high productivity. This is a step toward expanding and further developing milk processing in the region,” said Farrukh Makhmudov, founder of Orbis Kazakhstan.
Budennoye-SK LLP, through Orbis Agro, is part of Orbis Kazakhstan, a holding company founded in 2001 by Kazakhstani entrepreneurs Farrukh and Sukhrab Makhmudov. The group manages assets across automotive manufacturing, construction, equipment distribution, auto services, agribusiness, HoReCa, and other sectors.
