On September 24, an official groundbreaking ceremony took place in Astana to mark the start of construction of a modern Komatsu service center — the first and largest of its kind in Central Asia. The project’s total investment exceeds 10 billion tenge in foreign capital.

The event was attended by Yasumasa Iijima, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Kazakhstan, as well as senior executives from Komatsu Ltd and Orbis Construction.

The general contractor for the project is Orbis Construction, a company with proven expertise in delivering complex industrial facilities. Our team is responsible for the full scope of construction works and the implementation of advanced solutions in line with international standards.

The client of the project is “KOMEK MACHINERY Kazakhstan”, the official distributor of Komatsu.

The new 5,000 m² service center will be a strategic facility for Kazakhstan’s mining industry. It will provide full-cycle overhauls of engines, transmissions, hydraulic cylinders, electrical components, and other key parts of heavy equipment — from inspection and defect analysis to complete repair and testing.

This project will not only strengthen Kazakhstan’s role as a service hub for the entire region but will also create new jobs, speed up mining equipment maintenance, and improve machinery reliability.

For Orbis Construction, this is a milestone project that reaffirms the company’s status as a trusted partner for international corporations and major industrial clients.

Komatsu is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of construction and mining equipment
